YouTube Debates

As much as I dislike YouTube, their inclusion in the debates wasn't a bad idea. But why YouTube? Could people just submit videos directly so we don't have to be forced into watching grainy, flash video? Anyway, the format offered some hard hitting questions you rarely see in debates but also some obnoxious cutsy garbage that was completely unnecessary. It did add some interesting drama. For instance, they showed a video of a North Carolina preacher arguing why Edward's faith was an obstacle for him supporting gay marriage. Edwards gave his response then Cooper says the guy is in the audience and wants to hear his reaction! It was very Jerry Springer-esque. In conclusion, I like all the candidates even crazy Gravel. Especially crazy Gravel.

Nightmare #2 and Sicko

I had my second MCAT nightmare last night. This time I decide not to take it again but it is too late and I can't cancel it. So I have to take it even though I am tired and really don't want to take it again. At least this series of nightmares might replace my recurring nightmare of having to return to high school to take one more class so I can get my diploma.
Anywho, saw Sicko. Great, great movie, though Michael Moore needs to cut showing real-life people enjoying life under universal health care. He did this with Bowling for Columbine, and it isnt a very good argument. Not that he is wrong but I totally seeing O'Reilly and his Clone Army saying how Moore handpicked his interviews. He should at least show statistics as he interviews people, but I guess that isn't as dramatic.

PTSD MCAT

So I had a nightmare about the MCATs last night. I went to take the exam for a 3rd time (you cannot take it more than 3 times without special permission) and I decide halfway through that I don't want to bother taking it. But I forget to select that I dont want the test to be scored. I am pretty sure preparing for this exam since last September has left me with a slight PTSD.
Also, Chuck and Larry or whatever the latest idiot project from Adam Sandler is getting annoying. I did realize from the ads that whenever a film or TV show wants a comedic wedding it is automatically Jewish. The yarmulkes I guess make the situation humorous. Sandler need to realize his era of comedy is out. This isn't the 90s. Ferrell kicked you out 5 years ago and Apatow replaced him this summer. Maybe give drama a try again.

Harry Potter and the $200 million budget

New Harry Potter movie, not bad. Not as good as the last one (let alone Cuaron's pwning of the franchise). I have decided the movies are better than the books. The movies cut out all the filler (i.e. Quidditch) and make Harry's story more epic. This is the same way I felt about Lord of the Rings.
Anyway, noticed a few things changed in the latest film:

• You see a lot more of the dementors. I preferred them hidden in their cloaks, still are one of the coolest things in the series.
• In the last one, when Sirius communicated through the fireplace his face showed up in the embers not the flame. Were they running over budget in this one?
• Thankfully, Snape got more than one scene in this movie. It would be interesting to see how the characters fare in each film. Ron and Hermionne got totally shafted as did Maggie Smith.

And finally, Two and a Half Men, WTF Emmys? Your lucky you let A.D. win once or else your whole enterprise would be a complete joke.

Jesus Phone

So I drove by a church with a very Simpsons-esque sign, "When God calls on your iPhone." What does this mean? Is this a sly reference to the iPhone as the Jesus Phone? Is it a commentary on consumerism? Are they giving free iPhones to new recruits? Where do I sign up?
Also, I was listening to 99x and one of the hosts was on a preachy rant about how disgusting eating competitions are when 1/3rd of the world is malnurished. How much energy do you think it takes to cool a honkey rink? Or how many millions are poured into guys who tackle the guy directly in front of them, again and again and again and again. In conclusion, all sports are a waste when we should be thinking about the less fortunate...

Saw Ratatouille yesterday, another excellent Pixarian film (good to see them back in form after the mediocre Cars. Why did you have to ruin their perfect streak John Lassetter, why!?!). Anywho, before the trailer there is a short teaser for Wall-E, which got me really excited because a.) it plays the score from Brazil b.) it is a robot finding love (A.I.'s DAVID!) c.) it's about consumerism destroying the planet.
