The 'too soon' joke

I was watching a syndicated episode of The Simpsons, and Homer, referring to the Duff blimp crashing, says, "This is the worst blimp disaster ever" to which Grandpa responds, "Too soon!" This is a great sub-genre of joke. It is often used with Lincoln or following any bad joke about some horrific past event, which I guess with time becomes funny.
