Latest Arrested Development related discovery

Thanks to the Colbert Report I realized that Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Gob's mildly racist puppet, is based on a mildly racist Sesame Street character named Roosevelt Franklin. The more you know!

Norah and Nick's ∞ Playlist

Does anyone else find the title, plot, and Juno typecasting of George Michael ∞ irritating?

"OMG we are like totally iPod soul-mates" "Don't hit the fire hydrant!" Another pair of 20-somethings playing teens die in iPod related driving incident.

Go Katie!

My respect for Katie Couric just skyrocketed. While interviewing Palin, she asked when John McCain was ever for more regulation in his 100 years in the Senate. Palin responded that you forget McCain is a maverick. Katie didn't just take it like Charlie G. but ended the interview asking Palin again for one example in McCain's senate history when he was for more regulation to which she responded she would get back to her. This easily outdid Palin's ignorance on the Bush doctrine. If she keeps flubbing interviews like this, I think she might become a weight for McCain. And the debate with Biden!

The tides have changed McCain. With the economy free-falling, being stupid and making decisions from the gut is no longer in style. An ABC/Washington Post poll agrees, showing Obama leading McCain 52-43 and on the economy he leads 57-33. Unless Wall street declares this mess is a big practical joke or McCain has some unforeseen swift-boat attack under his sleeve, things are lookin good.

My Favorite Movies that Never Were

  • Jefferson - A biopic of our third president with all parts including Jefferson, Sally Hemming, and King George played by Tracy Jordon (30 Rock) in Eddie Murphy style. "Who are these Americans with their ridiculous notions of freedom and equality?"
  • The Orchid Thief - Charlie Kaufman and his fictional brother (Adapation) attempt to adapt this novel to film but consequently make a movie about trying to adapt it.
  • Homeless Dad - One of the many movies existing in the fictional universe of Arrested Development. Todd Jane is reseaching this formulaic family comedy pertending to be homeless and fooling the Bluths in the process. "I just want my kids back." Other AD films-within-a-show include a French film featuring incestous cousins and Love Indubitably, its American remake which bombed critically and financially but becomes a Universal Studiosesque ride replacing the Tunnel of Hell. "Welcome to Love Indubitably... from hell." And the last scene of the series finale alludes to the hopefully soon to be real Arrested Development movie.
  • The Power - The movie-within-a-movie of Southland Tales (or is it the real movie) written by an amnesiac (The Rock) and a porn star (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is a. "epic" science fiction movie set in a not-too-distance futuristic L.A. on the brink of environmental, economic, and social disaster caused by the Earth's rotation deaccelerating. Also, there is a child born who cannot have a BM and a marine biologist/astrophysicist.
  • Home for Purim - The movie-within-a-movie of For Your Consideration tells the story of a young woman (Parker Posey) circa 1950s coming out to her religious mother (Catherine O'Hara). Eventually, Purim becomes Thanksgiving to make it more mainstream.
  • The Stab of Zorro - The Simpsons has numerous fake-movie gags but this is the most memorable. A parody of The Mask of Zorro has the Scarlett Pimpernel as the villain and ends with Zorro being crowned by King George the "new" king of England and a rap songs "Z to the O to the double R-R..."
